Holeta Polytechnic College begins infrastructure development of the Centre of Excellence in Agro-processing

Holeta Polytechnic College held an inaugural ceremony to launch the planning and design for the physical infrastructure development for the Centre of Excellence in Agro-processing at the College. The ceremony was held in the presences of the President of Oromia Regional State Mr. Shimalis Abdisa, Ministry of Science and Higher Education Dr.Samuel Urkato, Mayor of Holeta City Administration Mrs Tsehay Zeleke.  Other invited  guests include stakeholders and the College Community.

The overall objective of the planned Centre of Excellence in Agro-processing is to deliver quality outcome-based training to supply competent, motivated and innovative middle and low-level workforce with the necessary technological skills to ensure the implementation of an agriculture-led industrial economy of Ethiopia. To this end the College is doing different activities.

Short-term Courses

The college also conducted short-term training courses for farmers and youth in the following fields:

A) Basic concepts of vegetable production and processing as well as handling.

B) Agro-processing i.e Milk production, processing and handling for farmers, Youth, Micro small enterprise members, Cooperatives and Union members.

C) Nursery site establishment.
