Holeta Polytechnic College (HPTC) provides training in three sectors such as Agriculture (Animal Health, Animal Production, Crop production, and Natural resources), Economic infrastructure (Information Technology and Building Electrical Installation/BEI) and Industry developments (Agro-processing- Fruit and Vegetable Processing and Dairy product processing). Agro-processing program was began in 2020 which got high attention from government. The college community and its stakeholders are also intensively working on it for its acclimatization.

Admission to this programs are based on the criteria set by the Ministry of Education (MoE) in every academic year. For formal trainings from level I to level V, students who completed secondary education can enroll in occupations on which trainings are delivered in the college based on minimum grade thresholds of Secondary School Leaving Examination (SSLE) cumulative GPA (vary by year) which is fixed by the ministry of education. Candidates completed their secondary education abroad can also join the trainings based on qualification equivalency estimation   made by MoE.  Moreover, the college can admit those trainees who completed lower levels in-house and overseas and want to upgrade the training qualification into higher levels after one years of related work experiences.  Those candidates who graduated in 10+1, 10+2, and 10+3 in former education and training system can join the relevant training programs for upgrading their level of qualification.

The college also provides short term trainings in fields of agriculture, agro-processing, construction and manufacturing such as Field Crop Production, Horticultural Crop Production, Organic Fertilizer Preparation, Animal Feed, Poultry Production, Dairy Production, Beekeeping, Sheep and Goats fattening,  Cattle Fattening, Nursery Establishment, Food Processing, Solid waste treatment, Greenery, Basic computer Skills, Basic Construction Works and Welding. Admission to these short term trainings are open to all academic level of qualification particularly to those who are running their own business or want to start business in aforementioned sectors.
