About APT

Holeta Polytechnic College is one of the oldest government-owned colleges, established in 1975 in Oromia Regional State. Its location is particularly well-suited at a distance of 30km from the capital city on the way to Ambo.

Because of its location, history and commitments, the College has produced a significant number of middle and lower level agricultural practitioners who are now providing frontline technical support for the farmers in the country. Holeta College is well known throughout Ethiopia as one of the leading training institutions for skilled technicians in the agricultural sector. This has included Crop Production, Animal Production, Animal Health and Natural Resources from level I to IV. In the Industrial Development sector, it has included Level I to II and, in the Economic Infrastructure sector, from level I to IV. In its effort to address market demands, it has produced 21,425 graduates at the diploma level and I-IV level since its establishment. It has provided short-term training for over 9,200 trainees. Currently, the college has 75 academics and 74 administrative staff with the capacity to enroll over 1000 trainees per year. The teaching workforce of 75 teachers is comprised of 87% male and 13% female. In terms of academic qualifications; 36% have masters of science degrees, 16%, are enrolled in a Master of Science degree programme, 13% have Bachelor’s degree qualifications and the remaining 7% have level IV (higher diploma) qualifications.

Holeta Polytechnic College (HPC) is a government-owned college which was established in 1975. HPC is located at a distance of 30km from the capital city on the way to Ambo. Initially, the College was engaged in producing a significant number of middle and lower-level agricultural practitioners with the aim of providing technical support for the farmers in the country. Nowadays, the college is providing trainings based on the need of labor market and known as one of the leading Technical, Vocational, Education and Training (TVET) institutions for training skilled technicians in the agricultural sector.
